5th Avenue Therapist’s Office

A classic Manhattan mid-town commercial space has been converted into 11 modern new offices and therapy rooms on 5th Avenue.

The project required careful division of the then unused space into a new lobby area, offices, amenity spaces and therapy rooms, all of which needed to be inviting and welcoming, whilst maintaining an element of privacy and seclusion.

As well as aesthetical alternations, essential engineering works were needed to give the offices the acoustic performance needed for therapy sessions.

The now light and bright corridors allow for a perfect flow through the space, which leads onto the central lobby. This was achieved by transforming an oversized skylight, which looks directly onto the Empire State Building, into a focal point of the space. You can see and almost touch the texture of the city.

A modern industrial spin was given to the interior design with the use of exposed duct work, conduits and sprinkler pipes.

The overall style is deliberately eclectic, with a welcoming bohemian character. What was once an old loft has been modernized to match the vibe of this transforming part of New York City.

The client was very specific about using vintage furniture pieces and had a passion for giving new life to good old things and this old space has certainly been rejuvenated.

“Kasia is a gem in the New York designer world. Her ideas are highly original and never fail to inspire the taste and thoughtful final rendering. Kasia offers a great mix of guidance and openness to her client’s ideas, resulting in an efficient and friendly collaborative process. Her artful transformation of our Nomad medical professional office space has received many positive comments by colleagues and patients alike.”
