Sympathetic preservation of the intricate period features of this 1883, Neo-Grec brownstone was of critical importance to its owners.
We began with the extensive restoration of the original wood doors, moldings, stairs and wainscoting. Many of these elements were then replicated in newly constructed areas to flow seamlessly from old to new. One particular fine detail was how an original wood fireplace mantle, that was salvaged from the former kitchen, was restored and relocated to the newly renovated living space.
The first-floor redesign added a new kitchen with breakfast nook opening up to a large deck, and a powder room built from materials also saved from other areas of the home and cladded with deeply infused wallpaper sympathetic to the original period aesthetic.
The rooms were elegantly dressed with exquisite furniture pieces and ornamental light fixtures that complement the evolving old-into-new story of this magnificent brownstone. Everything was very carefully curated to be made of most refined materials and fabrics resulting in a beautiful home that showcases remarkable craftsmanship.
