This 4,200 square foot Hartsdale house needed to become home to an impressive art collection, amassed by the owners over several years. Individual pieces consisted of of antique, vintage and modern pieces of furniture as well as paintings, sculptures and ceramics.
To truly showcase the collection, lighting was of critical importance, in creating balance and giving focus to sight lines. The natural light into the home provided an opportunity to maximize the space and where the light and shade started and finished.
It was important to the owners to have new ‘his and her’ office space and this is whether their two separate characters are truly realised, in the design and layout of the room, together with the clever placement of the pieces of artwork and furniture. There is an element of surprise when you are walking through this unique home for first time, you see that each space, corner, hall or corridor has yet another interesting piece of art that invites you to marvel in its beauty and boldness.
