Set in an elegant 1930s Art Deco style apartment building in the heart of Flatbush, this apartment underwent an entire renovation: a transformation restoration project which resulted in a stunning home in one of New York’s oldest neighborhoods.
Space was gained by initially removing some walls and repurposing some of the existing areas to open up the apartment. New custom designed and fitted pieces of millwork created a natural flow, allowing more light to beam into the spaces.
The client has a large collection of artwork, and natural light was essential to showcase this stunning collection. By altering the layout of the apartment, Kasia was also able to generate more, yet hidden storage space.
Throughout the apartment, the original wood floor was beautifully and carefully restored, complimented by selecting new natural finishes, such as the sumptuous dark soapstone countertops, terrazzo tiles and concrete tiles, and custom natural oak cabinets in the kitchen and the bathroom.
The apartment fell right into a tasteful balance of old and new, the perfect result for a welcoming apartment in an equally welcoming neighborhood.
